Surat: Sarvajanik University (SU), under the aegis of Sarvajanik Education Society, proudly hosted an Idea Pitching Event as part of the Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP) 2.0, introduced by the Education Department of the Government of Gujarat to foster student innovation and entrepreneurship.
SU has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Knowledge Society (GKS), the policy’s central implementation nodal agency, and has been granted the Student Innovation Fund (SIF) for 2023–2027 to support promising student startups.
The event aimed to screen and support innovative ideas at the Startup, Proof of Concept (PoC), and Prototype stages through SSIP grants, accelerating the development of practical solutions and promoting entrepreneurial spirit among students.
A total of 30 student teams presented their innovative ideas, of which:
• 15 teams received grants for PoC development,
• 13 teams were awarded for both Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and PoC,
• 2 teams secured grants for IPR protection.
Highlighted projects included: ParkMaster – Find and Rent Parking Space Easily, Detachable Glasses, CLOSFIT, ReBrick: Waste Se Vikas, Martini Bar Chair, Glamophone Dressing Table, NUTRIPOT INDIA, ECOFRIENDLY SCRUBBING SOAP USING COCONUT HUSK, MEDI TAPE: Healing Patch for Diabetic Ulcers, MILK DETECTION TEST STRIP, Smart Robotic Arm for 3D Printing Systems, Ensky: Drone Delivery, VisionSentinel, and Anti Vape Detection Device, among others. Grants ranged from ₹50,000 to ₹2,40,000, totaling ₹23,74,500+.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Darshan Marjadi and Dr. Rupal Snehkunj, under the guidance of Dr. Dipali Kasat (Convener, SU SSIP Cell), Dr. Kiran Pandya (Provost, SU), and Shri Ashish Desai (Registrar, SU).
