Grand Celebration of World Space Week 2025 at Gujarat Science City — Thousands of Students Embark on an Exciting Journey into Space Science

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 15: To foster curiosity and enthusiasm for science among students, Gujarat Science City organized a grand celebration of World Space Week 2025 from 4th to 10th October. Held under the theme “Living in Space”, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 3,000 students representing nearly 50 schools from Ahmedabad and surrounding districts.

The week-long program began with an introduction to the significance of World Space Week and its historical background. Students were then engaged in a variety of interactive and educational activities, including space quizzes, path puzzles, “Know Your Solar System,” and other interactive games, designed to enhance their understanding of space science.

During the space quiz, students were asked general questions related to space, satellites, planets, astronauts, and India’s space programs, providing an exciting and educational experience that challenged their knowledge and reasoning skills.

Under the “Living in Space” theme, students creatively presented their ideas, imagination, and scientific understanding through posters. The poster presentations explored how human life can be sustained in space, the role of technology in enabling life beyond Earth, and the challenges involved. Outstanding students were awarded prizes to encourage and acknowledge their efforts.

Throughout the week, scientists from ISRO conducted daily interactive sessions for students. These sessions covered topics such as the history of space exploration, India’s satellite programs, Chandrayaan-1 and Mangalyaan missions, space shuttle programs, the International Space Station, and the scientific challenges and achievements related to life in space.

The scientists also explained how technology supports the daily lives of astronauts in space — including food, health, water recycling, and how the human body functions in microgravity, providing students with fascinating insights into real-life space science.

Students also visited the Astronomy and Space Science Gallery and the Hall of Science Gallery, experiencing the visual and practical aspects of space science. The various exhibitions and interactive displays offered both educational and enjoyable experiences.

The main objective of this celebration was to inspire curiosity for science, stimulate creative thinking, and promote awareness of space studies among students. The activities conducted throughout the week motivated students to explore new ideas and develop a passion for scientific inquiry.

At the conclusion of the program, students left with renewed energy and inspiration for space science, which is expected to contribute to the future growth of India’s scientific community.
