Gujarat’s Ayaz to lead Indian TT team at World University Games in Germany
Gandhidham: Two Gujarat paddlers have made the cut for the Indian table tennis team which will participate in the FISU World University Games to be held in Ruhr, Germany from July 16 to 27.
The 23-year-old Ayaz, who belongs to Surat, will lead the team in which his city mate Devarsh Vaghela, 20, also booked his berth. Both the paddlers have been training at the Sports Authority of Gujarat (SAG)-Tapti Valley High Performance Table Tennis Centre, Tapti Valley International School in Surat for the last two years. The Indian team will take part in the team, singles, men’s doubles and mix doubles’ events.
Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA) president shri Pramod Chaudhary expressed delight over two Gujarat boys featuring in the Indian team. “It’s a matter of great pride that our state paddlers are doing well at various international meets. The World University Games is a prestigious event and we are confident that both Ayaz and Devarsh, who have prepared well at our SAG-supported High-Performance academy in Surat, will perform well with the Indian squad,” shri Chaudhary said.

Men’s team: Ayaz Murad, Harkuvar Singh, Devarsh Vaghela and Chitwan Wadhwa
Women’s team: Taneesha Kotecha, Pritha Vartikar, Suhana Saini and Sayali Wani.
