New Delhi : Hopefully some good news for students, who are waiting to go to schools and colleges, after all educational instructions in the country were closed following lockdown announced in March 2020. Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD), Ramesh Pokhriyal said that everything goes as per plan schools and colleges will open from second week of August 2020.
“Schools and colleges in the country will open in August 2020, mostly after August 15. We are monitoring the situation constantly. As the country moves in Unlock 1, schools and colleges will also open in August,” said Pokhriyal.
Minister said that schools and colleges will have to follow strict guidelines once they start academic sessions. Thermal screening of students and usage of hand sanitizers will be mandatory. Teachers will be asked to wear masks and gloves while in class and students will have to follow social distancing while sitting in the classroom. School and college administration have to ensure that every SOP related to COVID19 is strictly followed.
Sources said that prior to starting academic work, every school and college will be asked to paste printed SOP of COVID19 in the class and on the notice board. Also Dos’ and Don’ts’ related to COVID19 will also have to be published at every class and in the notice board.
It is believed that initially classes from 9-12 will begin first in schools and class 1-8 will start in the next phase. This is because younger children are at higher risk of getting infected with COVID19.
